PLP Appointed Official Fire Detection Supplier for ExCeL London

We’re proud to announce that PLP is now the Official Fire Detection Supplier for ExCeL London, marking another important milestone in a relationship that has spanned more than a decade.

Our partnership with ExCeL London began in 2013, and since then we have been proud to support the continued development of one of the UK’s leading exhibition and events venues. From the original installation works through to ongoing maintenance and support, our team has worked closely with the venue to help ensure its fire detection and life safety systems continue to meet the demands of an ever-evolving site.

 ExCeL London is a landmark venue within the capital, welcoming millions of visitors, exhibitors, event organisers and staff through its doors every year. As the venue has grown, so too has the complexity and scale of its fire detection infrastructure.

When ExCeL London expanded by a further 25,000 square metres, PLP supported the project through the installation and ongoing maintenance of its fire detection and life safety systems. We’re now delighted to extend our partnership across the venue’s entire 125,000-square-metre site.

Working alongside ExCeL London’s dedicated Fire Team, our role is to provide the specialist expertise, technical support and ongoing service required to help protect everyone who uses the venue.

The scale of ExCeL London’s fire detection infrastructure reflects the size and complexity of the venue itself.

Across the site, the system includes:

• More than 7,000 field devices
• 100+ VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) systems
• Over 55km of specialist fire alarm cabling
• Fire detection and life safety systems supporting the full 125,000-square-metre venue

Managing fire detection across a site of this scale requires more than simply installing equipment. It demands detailed planning, specialist technical knowledge and a proactive approach to maintenance and system performance.

Our team is proud to provide that expertise while working in close partnership with ExCeL London’s own Fire Team to support the venue’s ongoing operations.

While the size of the venue and the scale of its fire detection infrastructure are significant, this partnership means much more to PLP than the numbers alone.

After more than ten years of working together, our appointment as ExCeL London’s Official Fire Detection Supplier is a recognition of the trust, technical expertise and strong working relationship that has developed between our two organisations.

Long-term relationships are at the heart of what we do at PLP. By understanding our customers, their sites and the challenges they face, we’re able to provide solutions and support that continue to evolve alongside their requirements.

Our work with ExCeL London is a great example of this approach. From supporting major development works to providing ongoing maintenance and technical support, we have been able to grow alongside the venue and play a part in its continued success.
