Dry risers are generally installed in all buildings over 18 metres high and can also be found in car parks, basements and buildings where access by the fire brigade is limited, if your building has a dry riser installed you will need to have it regularly maintained in order to comply with the fire safety order and maintain your buildings insurance validity.
Our in house specialist division carry out the maintenance and repair of Dry Risers.
Because we have our own testing facilities we can ensure we are able to maintain quality and offer reduced costs by cutting out the middle person, this includes providing additional discounts to large sites with multiple installations.
Dry risers are prone to vandalism, theft and are often neglected, it is imperative dry risers are regularly maintained to ensure any problems are detected and quickly rectified.
It is a legal requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to ensure that a suitable Fire Risk Assessment is in place and your Dry Riser installations are covered by a contract of maintenance and kept in full working order to ensure you remain compliant.
Maintenance of Dry risers are carried out in accordance with BS9990 with the following frequencies:
Annual Pressure test
Inlets, landing valves, drain valves, door hinges and locking arrangements to the inlet and landing valve boxes inspected including all valves, spindles, glands and washers to ensure that they are in satisfactory condition.
Following a successful inspection the dry riser installation is then filled with water and pressure tested to 12 bar for a minimum of 15 minutes where the installation can be checked for leaks and flushed through.
If the installation fails its pressure test, after repairs are undertaken a re-test is then required.
6 Monthly Inspection
Inlets, landing valves, drain valves, door hinges and locking arrangements to the inlet and landing valve boxes inspected including all valves, spindles, glands and washers to ensure that they are in satisfactory condition.
