What is a Fixed Wire Test (EICR)?
All electrical installations suffer damage and deterioration throughout their operational life, which makes the fixed wiring test essential in confirming the safe continued use of the installation.
During the Fixed Wire Testing process, our engineers highlight areas which do not conform to the IEE Wiring Regulations. These are coded in order of severity and compiled into a comprehensive Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR).
Electrical Installation Condition Report is a mandatory requirement for all Domestic properties which are rented or let, the common area of flats and all commercial and industrial premises to ensure the standards are met with regards to the health and safety at work act 1974.
When electrical safety testing is completed any ‘damage, deterioration, defects and dangerous conditions within the installation’ will be reported as follows:
- Code 1 – requires urgent attention
- Code 2 – potentially dangerous and should be given urgent attention
- Code 3 – improvement recommended
- Any fault reported as code 1 or 2 must be remedied for the installation to be deemed compliant.
